Center for Community Change
The Center for Community Change helps low-income people build organizations that can win change in their communities and affect public policy on diverse issues at the local. state and federal levels. Center for Third World Organizing seeks to galvanize public support for policies that advance racial justice and promote equity in the areas of gender, economics and sexuality. Support was provided for the Movement Activist Apprenticeship Program, which provides intensive training to young people of color in the art of grassroots organizing.

Fight Crime: Invest In Kids Action Against Crime and Violence Education Fund
The Fund works with parents’ organizations, social service providers, legislators and law enforcement agencies to advocate for reduced gun violence against children. Support was provided for a public education and advocacy campaign.

Grassroots Institute for Fundraising and Training

Grassroots Policy Project is an educational and research organization working in partnership with community groups, activist networks and other training organizations to encourage strategic approaches to issues of social and economic justice. Guild Law Center works on behalf of displaced workers, low income communities and the working poor. Support was provided for the Corporate Welfare Project, which cast a public light on policies that benefit corporations at the expense of working people.

Media Democracy Institute
These two Media Democracy conferences worked toward building a comprehensive progressive movement using media as a method to counter the economic and political prominence of the right.

Independent Press Association amplifies the power of the independent press in order to foster a more just, open and democratic society. IPA supports the growth and development of over 550 independent magazines, community and ethnic newspapers, and Web sites throughout North America.

MHRN challenges hate groups and other extremists by organizing local human rights groups and monitoring radical right groups in Montana.

The National Alliance for Choice in Giving is dedicated to promoting workplace giving to community-based social change funds. This grant supported a partnership with the Bread and Roses Fund of Philadelphia.
